We Tested It in the Field
At SpookySight, we took the K-II EMF Meter on multiple ghost hunts to see how it stacks up in real-world conditions. Here are the results:
First, we wanted to understand how the K-II reacts to everyday electronics. Our office’s improvised kitchen (still a work in progress) has a few appliances: a small refrigerator, a microwave, and a coffee machine.
The only one that messed up the readings was the microwave (which was to be expected)—spiking to 50+ milliGauss. Not a bad start. That means the K-II may offer reliable readings even near certain electronic devices. But it’s not something we would recommend.
Next, we took it into the field. We tested it near a remote farmhouse, a few miles away from electronic sources. The K-II lit up, jumping from green to red. The place was abandoned… but with nothing to suggest any potential paranormal activity.
Under direct sunlight, we found it tricky to see which LEDs were illuminated. We had to shade the device with our hands to read the levels accurately. So, if you’re planning daytime investigations, be prepared for this minor hiccup.
The size of the K-II may also be an issue for some. To be honest, we expected it to be more compact—it’s about as big as an old-school mobile phone.
